Reality check
This is a teaching project and you are expected to teach for a few hours every day. We would also like to stress this project is new in 2011 so please do not expect to come and see a finished volunteer experience. It is important to remember that projects evolve and if you volunteer in 2011 you will be at the start of this evolution period which makes it an exciting time to participate. The schools were started by BCAS in 2000 but the after school activities and the English lesson structure is at the beginning.
Accommodation
The accommodation is twin sharing and has all amenities like TV, fridge, kettle, en-suite bathroom and even a balcony. Please be warned rooms will be single sexed as unmarried couples are not allowed to stay in the same room together.
(If we have a mixture of volunteers the male volunteers will stay at the plantation’s regional manager's house which is just 30 seconds away).
Includes: Return transfers from Sandakan Airport, food and accommodation, Twin share fan rooms, transfer to Sukau junction midday on each Friday and from Sukau junction on Sunday and donation of RM1000 to the schools at Melangking per volunteer/month.
