- Location: Kinabalu Park and Poring
- Drive 2 hours overland (88 km) through paddy fields and Dusun villages, over the ridges of the Crocker Range to the foothills of Mt. Kinabalu at 5,000 ft.
- Short stop at a roadside stall to savour local fruits.
- At Kinabalu Park World Heritage Site, visit the Education Centre and Mountain Garden, home to various species of flowering rhododendrons, carnivorous pitcher plants, orchids, ferns, oak trees and birds.
- If time and weather permits, we will take a guided walk a trail in the cool surroundings to observe the montane forest.
- Overnight in twin bedded room.
Day 2
- After breakfast, we continue on a 40 km overland journey to Poring, 500m above sea level, east of Kinabalu Park HQ. The vegetation here is tropical lowland rainforest.
- Explore the jungle trail leading up to the treetop canopy walkways, suspended 41 metres above the forest floor.
- Visit Kipungit Waterfall and soak in hot sulphur pools.
- We proceed to Kundasang Memorial Park to learn part of Sabah's World War II history.
- Return to Kota Kinabalu.
